16/12/20
Dear parent/carer,
NHS Lanarkshire’s test and protect team is carrying out contact tracing after a person at Clyde Valley High School tested positive for Covid-19. They are currently self-isolating at home.
Your child has been identified by NHS Lanarkshire as a close contact of a person who has tested positive for Covid-19. The contact has been identified as having taken place on 15/12/2020. Your child is now required to isolate for 10 days from this date: therefore the last day in isolation will be 24/12/2020 and they can therefore return to school after the festive period if they don’t have any symptoms (as schools close on 22nd December 2020).
The Scottish Government has rescinded previous restrictions for all household members of identified close contacts to self-isolate for 10 days.
Therefore, isolation is for your child as a close contact only, the other members of your household do not need to isolate unless you or anyone else in your household develop COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever or loss of taste or smell. If this is the case, you should book a test at www.nhsinform.scot as soon as possible. All members of your household would then need to isolate until the result of the test is known.
If you choose to seek a test and you are without symptoms, even if this returns negative, you are still required to isolate for the 10 days as you could still be incubating the virus.
Self-isolation helps to reduce the transmission of coronavirus infection and reduce the number of people who become ill and save lives.
In accordance with Scottish Covid-19 guidelines we have asked some children to isolate at home, not to attend school and have provided them with isolation advice.
Following a review by NHS Lanarkshire, the risk to the wider school has currently been assessed as low and the school remains open.
We are aware that there will be concern for children, their parents/carers and staff at this time, however, I want to reassure you that a full risk assessment has been carried out by NHS Lanarkshire public health and North Lanarkshire Council (NLC). NLC has put in place all the recommended infection prevention and control measures and has a thorough cleaning programme for the building.
If you need support throughout the 10 days isolation, please contact NLC’s Support for People Helpline on 0300 555 0407, which is available Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
People who do not have symptoms of coronavirus should not arrange to have a test unless advised to by the health service as this prevents tests being available for people who do have symptoms.

Take the following advice:
Everyone in your household should:
Wash their hands more often than usual:
