
![]() The Home Economics department, last week hosted the Big Beatson Bake Off, to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. All classes in Home Economics, designed and baked cakes and biscuits, which were then packaged and sold to staff and pupils during the morning interval of Thursday 22 October, coordinating with many other schools and organisations around Scotland, who also took part in this fantastic event. Classroom assistant, Mrs Elaine St. John, assisted Miss Lisa McKinstry and Mr Andrew Keating, of the HE dept. to create a stunning, colourful display of goodies for staff and pupils to buy. And, buy they did. The fantastic sum of £175.84 was raised overall. Mrs Margaret Franks, formerly of Clyde Valley’s Home Economics department, was joined by her grandson Heath, and were judges on the day. They were bowled over with the delicious chocolate shortbread baked by 4H1, and they were deemed the winners.
