![]() The forthcoming Scottish Council elections on the 4th May 2017 means 16 and 17 year old in Scotland are eligible to vote and play their part in the democratic process. Clyde Valley High School pupils will be participating in a voting registration event on the 13th March 2017 where they will be finding out lots of information about the work and responsibilities of North Lanarkshire Council and the elected councillors. This forms part of our continuing development of the school’s political literacy programme and pupils will be given the opportunity to register to vote online. To participate in elections from the age of 16 years is unique to Scotland as no other part of the United Kingdom gives this entitlement to their young people . One of the principles of Curriculum for Excellence is to develop responsible citizens and pupils will be encouraged play their part by using their vote on the 4th May.
