Our young speakers were simply outstanding! I may even go as far as saying it was the highest standard of competition we have ever witnessed. Even though we had two individual winners, every pupil enjoyed their own success last night. I could wax lyrical about all 12 speakers but wanted to give special mention to a few:
Klaudia Pluta, spoke passionately about her experience of being an immigrant. She truly embodies everything that is fabulous about our school. Her experiences since coming to Britain, and Clyde Valley in particular, have been extremely positive and she is excited to see what the future holds for her, thanks to her time spent here at The Valley.
Lewis O'Neill, a young man who has had a very challenging few years, stood in front of the audience and spoke of how mental illness has affected his family. Like Shelby, Lewis showed great courage and poise in delivering such personal and emotional information to the audience.
We must also make special mention of Elizabeth Hendrie and Stuart Murphy who, at the eleventh hour, proudly stepped in to help out Curran House. Both of them did remarkably well and delivered their speeches professionally and confidently.
And, not forgetting our two winning speakers: Cara Sinnett and Liam Dunnachie, two experienced public speakers who, once again, delivered speeches of the highest calibre. Cara's control and Liam's humour and wit were unmatched and they were very deserving winners for Houldsworth House.
All of our young speakers deserve the highest praise for their efforts last night and if you see them about, please congratulate them. They are:
