Communications to parents
3/12/20
Dear parent/carer,
NHS Lanarkshire’s test and protect team is carrying out contact tracing after a person at Clyde Valley High School tested positive for Covid-19. They are currently self-isolating at home.
NHS Lanarkshire is working closely with North Lanarkshire Council with regards to the case and is contacting close contacts. Public health advice is being given to these individuals and they are being told to self-isolate.
Following the findings of a review, there is no evidence currently to suggest that there is transmission in the school/centre. The risk to the wider school/nursery community has currently been assessed as low and the school will remain open.
The Scottish Government has rescinded previous restrictions for all household members of identified close contacts to self-isolate for 14 days.
Therefore only those individuals identified as close contacts need to self-isolate and not all their household members.
The aim of self-isolation is to reduce the transmission of coronavirus infection and reduce the number of people who become ill and save lives.
We are aware that there will be concern for children, their parents/carers and staff at this time, however, I want to reassure you that a full risk assessment has been carried out by NHS Lanarkshire public health and North Lanarkshire Council (NLC). NLC has put in place all the recommended infection prevention and control measures and has a thorough cleaning programme for the building.
Noting the increased infection rates in Lanarkshire, it is important to bear in mind that mixing socially in the community without maintaining physical distancing measures helps the virus to spread widely. It is therefore important that people remain vigilant and follow physical distancing guidance. Pupils and staff should wash their hands thoroughly and regularly using soap and water for 20 seconds.
Individuals who experience any Covid-19 symptoms such as a cough, fever or loss of taste or smell, even if they are mild, should stay off school or work and get tested. Information on how to access testing is available from NHS Inform at:
https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-andpoisoning/coronavirus-covid-19/test-and-protect/coronavirus-covid-19-testing
If you have any questions about coronavirus please visit www.nhsinform.scot in the first instance or call the helpline on 0800 028 2816.
To respect and maintain patient confidentiality no further details will be released at this time.

Dear Parent/Carer,
As you may know the council took the decision on 24 February 2020 to incorporate “full cost recovery for school meals”. The school meal service is subsidised by the council and due to
extreme financial pressures can no longer sustain this level of costs.
When COVID hit in March 2020 the service postponed the increase which should have happened on the 1 April 2020. The price increase will now be applicable from 26 October and the new price of a 2 course primary school meal will be £3.00 and the price of a secondary school 2 course
meal will be £3.05. A 3% annual inflationary rise will be incorporated thereafter.
The new school meal price still represents value for money and cannot be compared to the previous subsided price. Both the Primary and the Secondary meal price includes a two course lunch. In a primary school the choice is soup and main course plus water or milk or a main course and sweet treat plus water or milk. Also to reassure parents/carers that the school meal service has worked hard to provide a safe working environment and staff are working to COVID 19 protocols.
Your child may be entitled to free school meal and essential clothing grant. You can check your benefits and how your application is processed via the council’s website at
https://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=5452
ALL Primary 1 to Primary 3 pupils are automatically entitled to receive a free school meal but must be included in your application form.
You can also download the Free School Meals & Clothing Grant application form from the website details above.
If your application for Free School Meals is accepted then the school will be notified immediately.

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.
We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.
Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.
We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schools and facilities in the coming days.
We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.

It is essential, to stop the spread of transmission of coronavirus, that people who can work from home do work from home.
