I’m delighted to be welcoming back our young people to Clyde Valley High School and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning. Following my newsletter of last month, I am contacting you with some updates to the arrangements for Monday and next session. As always, the best place to find any information is on our school website. www.clydevalleyhighschool.com
On Monday morning as soon as first year pupils (S1) arrive on site they should enter the school building via the front entrance and will be directed to the Games Hall, (counter to one-way-system).
All S2-6 pupils will arrive and muster at their places in the playground. Map is available here
S5/6 will come in the front door and go straight to classes as normal.
Due to the changes to the school day, pupils do not have their timetables yet but you should have received an email/letter by now outlining where they go for period one. This information will also be posted at various points around the building. However, for any pupils who do not yet have this information…. This information is also available here
S1 pupils will be dismissed for lunch at 12:20.
Please note S1 pupils are not allowed to leave the school campus at lunchtime.
Lunchtime arrangements remain the same as before the holidays.
i.e. weather permitting, other than pupils purchasing hot meals, all pupils should eat outside. Anyone eating inside should move outside once they have finished eating.
S1 pupils will finish at 3.40pm
All other pupils will follow the arrangements outlined here…..
Myself, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Inclusion teachers will all be on hand on Monday morning to help with any pupil questions. As usual I will be stood outside the main entrance with a supply of disposable face-masks should pupils require one. However, I would be grateful if you could encourage your child to use a cloth face-mask as they are much more comfortable and more environmentally friendly than the disposable masks.
Regarding COVID restrictions we are now in a much more positive place and although some of the restrictions will remain for a few weeks, I’m sure you will agree that it’s good news that whole classes will not routinely be asked to self-isolate if someone in the class tests positive for COVID-19. I’m also pleased to say that the restrictions on drama, PE, music and dance can now be removed, and I am sure this will be welcomed by our young people.
This will result in less disruption to both families and our staff and of course benefit your child’s continued learning.
The Scottish Government advice retains the use of face coverings for all 12 years and over in certain indoor settings including schools. They should always be worn indoors by staff and pupils. This will be the case for up to six weeks.
One of the major changes is that Clyde Valley will no longer be involved in contact tracing, and this will all be done via Test and Protect.
This has been an extremely tough and challenging year and I would once again like to take the opportunity to thank you and your family for your resilience and support as we’ve navigated through this time. It is now time to for Clyde Valley to do what we do best, to support your children and family as we reconnect and recover from the pandemic and look forward to a much brighter future together.
